ABOUT THE CLASSES: Deanna will be at the Midtown and East Cobb locations of The Cook’s Warehouse during the weekend of April 25 & 26, teaching 2 classes at each location. Classes will feature recipes from her latest release, Cooking Class: 57 Fun Recipes Kids Will Love to Make (and Eat!).
Seats are still available in all sessions- kids ages 8 - 12 can sign up for space in the class where they will recipe a copy of the cookbook (value $18.95) and learn to make 4 recipes under Deanna's guidance: We Love Biscuits!, Think Spring Rolls, Popcorn Chicken and Dipped Strawberry Dessert. ABOUT THE BOOK: Kids love to cook, but many children don’t have basic cooking skills. In Cooking Class, author Deanna Cook makes learning to cook fun and exciting through easy-to-follow recipes and creative projects that kids will have a blast making!
Filled with lively, full-color, step-by-step live-action photography of kids cooking, Cooking Class invites all skill levels with fun food creations. They’ll gain a working knowledge of basic kitchen skills with information on everything from proper cutting to accurate measuring, and from prep work to cleanup. A handy 1- to 3-spoon difficulty scale accompanies each recipe, so kids can start where they’re ready.
Cooking Class is bursting with 57 delicious, healthy recipes covering breakfast to lunch, dinner to dessert, and everything in between. Kids will love making French Toast on a Stick, Italian Panini, Apple Monsters, Fruit Rollups, Nutty Noodles, and Hot Cocoa Pops! And there are lots of fun projects for every occasion, like self-portrait personal pizzas and crazy quesadilla art to make at a slumber party, or a smoothie stand to beat the heat during the hot summer months. But the fun doesn’t stop there!
After kids make their tasty treats, they’ll love decorating and personalizing their packages with the accompanying labels and recipe name tags. Included in the book are flags to make sandwich toothpicks, personalized recipe cards, creative conversation starters, and tons of colorful stickers. Cooking Class will have kids cooking up fun in the kitchen for hours!
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: With over a dozen family and kid cookbooks, Deanna F. Cook knows kids and cooking! She wrote her first book, The Kids' Multicultural Cookbook, when she graduated from college and received a grant to travel around the world and collect recipes from kids. After that, she was a magazine editor for many years, first at Scholastic, then at Disney's FamilyFun where she often shared kids crafts and recipes on TV (Good Morning America, the Today Show, Food Network, and more). She is now the content director at Kidstir.com and writes children's non-fiction books. An avid cook and spokesperson, she’s hosted kids’ cooking specials on the Food Network and is a TV spokesperson on cooking with kids. She lives in Northampton, Massachusetts, with her husband and two daughters.
