M572 is located just steps away from the historic Southern Railroad (now CSX) on Main Street in Tucker, Georgia. Venturing back to the early 1800’s, before there was a Tucker Georgia or even a Dekalb County, this area of Henry County was designated Militia District 572, hence the restaurants name. Here you will find a comfortable modern farmhouse setting perfect for a date night, a family gathering or a special occasion.
The dishes are meticulously prepared by chef Jon Allen. Jon brings twenty plus years of experience to the eatery. His previous culinary experience includes serving as Chef de Cuisine for Chef Kevin Rathbun at Rathbun’s and Krog Bar. M572 will offer seasonal dishes, small and large, with an original twist. The menu will vary seasonally but will include many perennial favorites and most of the dishes, beer and cocktails will be regional to the south. With any luck, the duck fat and cayenne spiced beignets will be a perennial dish! The handcrafted cocktails are true Southern concoctions and the wine list is extensive and carefully selected.
Chef Jon Allen
A true native son, Jon grew up just around the corner in Lilburn, GA. He started learning to cook from childhood, using local ingredients. Whether it was corn and peas from a family farm or vegetables from his own garden, respect for the freshest possible ingredients has always been the most important part of Jon’s menu.
Chef Jon’s experience has seen him from working roadside BBQ at the age of 17, a stint doing Pastry with Marriot hotels to the position of Chef de Cuisine for Kevin Rathbun’s Krog Bar. Along the way he has managed to work in every capacity of food service – food sales and delivery, restaurant management, baking and pastry, as well as liquor sales. He is a Certified Specialist of Wine through the Society of Wine Educators. Chef Jon is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the inaugural class of Le Cordon Bleu, Atlanta.
Jon is still a local, living in the Smoke Rise area of Tucker with his wife, Lauren and their daughter Emma.
M572 is managed and operated by Tucker local, Stacy Slocum. Jason Hylton, James Maggard and Luis Finley are the restaurateurs behind Tucker’s first upscale eatery. They opened Tucker’s first bar on Main Street in late 2011, Local No. 7. They also operate Matador Mexican Cantina in Oakhurst. And their latest venture, Pallookaville in Avondale will reopen under their management this Spring (April 2016) with a walk up to-go location coming this summer to Little Five Points.
